Linda's favorite for June

Every Bed and Breakfast has it's favorite recipes. Each month Linda will share one of her favorites. But don't ask for the book. She keeps that under lock and key!

Linda's New England Boiled Dinner
Put your slow cooker to work!

1 (4 pound) boneless smoked ham...2 (16 oz.) cans whole potatoes, drained...1 (16 oz.) bag of frozen baby carrots...1 (2 pound) cabbage cut in 6 wedges and 1/2 cup water...

Place the meat in the crock and fit the vegetables around it. Cover anc cook on:
Low - 8 hours
High - 4 hours
Makes 10 - 16 servings Enjoy!

Linda's Hints:

Here are a few $$ saving ideas as you use it all!...

To get the last drops out of almost any catsup bottle, grab the bottom of the bottle and start swinging in a circular motion from your side. The remaining drops will be forced to the top of the bottle...Oh, just make sure you have the cap on tight!

Sour wine: use it in place of vinegar, especially in marinades...

Flat Club soda: don't throw away your fizzless club soda. It had just the right chemicals to add vigor and color to your plants!

Milk cartons: good for free kindling. Start your fires with them.

Eggshells: dry them in the oven and pulverize in the blender to make excellent bonemeal, which is a great plant fertilizer.

Dired-out coconut: sprinkle with milk and let it stand until it regains its freshness.

Cardboard tubes: extension cords can be conveniently stored witout tangling if you wind the cord loosely and slip it into the cardboard tube.
